The road from Oban Comedy Club

Big up to all the people of Oban where Paul Pirrie, Raymond Mearns and myself did a show on Saturday night and many thanks to the guys up there who run the show. Here is Paul on a stop we made on the road down. Stops were needed given the hellish hangover produced by the whiskey which flowed at the after hours party. Mobile telephone reception in Argylle is not the best and BT didn't help the situation by providing payphones that don't take money. Coins not accepted, what the f**ck is that about? By the time we managed to get three chickens and a bag of oats through the slot my wife had put the phone down. A prize to anyone who can tell me how you are supposed to use these phones in the rural west highlands.

Bonie Prince Charlie's March to Derby

Here's an excerpt from the show About the Jacobites, where we trace the steps of Bonnie Prince Charlie, prince Charles Edward Stewart as he marched his tartan army down to Derby..... Only problem was he had to march them back to Culloden.

One of the Rober the Bruce heroes

After entertaining a varied crowd at a party night in Pitlochry Ihad a few short ones with pals back in Blackford. For those who have been to my About Robert the Bruce show here's a bit of background. In the foreground is Klunk, who appears in a story along with his good buddy Hut. Klunk is a patriotic Scotsman. If you haven't heard the Hut and Klunk story, you haven't seen the show. Watch out for tour dates of About Robert the Bruce starting in February 2009.

Tartan Army Robert the Bruce Night

Big thanks to Johnny Kaylor for organising a night for the Perth Tartan Army on 29th Nobember in the 208 in Perth. I performed the About Robert the Bruce show I had done during the Edinburgh Festival. I guess it was a kind of St Andrew's night with a difference. The fact that it followed the St Johnstone v Dundee derby meant a mixed audience, with some dressed for theatre and others pished as farts. It all ended with everyone (apart from Dave) having a good laugh. Thanks to everyone who came along.

Hosting That Monday Night Thing

I have been very lazy of late with posting here, but I have been busy. Here on Monday at the ingeniously named 'Monday Night Thing' at Redrooms in Perth Theatre. Al Pitcher headlined the show and did a grand job, with a sometimes offbeat and zany, but always creative and funny one hour set. Mondays are never an easy night to perform stand up, particularly when people like 'Fred' (wouldn't give his real name) act as atmosphere hoovers by being awkward at the start of the night. Fred, who ever you are, stand up is not for you. You can see a review of this show by Shiela of one4review.com at http://www.one4review.com/Non_fringe_/non_fringe_08_/monday_night_t_.htm

Another day on the sofa

So it's been the usual weekend of mixed venues with the 'good girls' of Perth and Ayrshire's finest in Irvine and Kilmarnock. Back to another day at the computer today. Some administration, but at least a bit of comedy writing for a guy who wants funny stories for a speech he's giving to a Scottish group. I guess the Scottish history based Fringe shows I have done leads to this type of job.
I read in yesterday’s Sunday Times that the government have just spent £2million on a fleet of armour plated, bullet proof cars which put themselves out if they’re on fire. Gordon Brown will get two. One at Westminster because of the high probability of a terrorist incident in the capital and one in his Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath constituency.... because it’s Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath. Fife takes the Muslim funda out of Muslim fundamentalist

Harbour Arts Centre

A great night at Sidesplitters comedy club in Irvine run by the extremely talented Billy Kirkwood, who compered the night with aplomb. Backstage with Elaine Malcomson and the legend that is Bruce Morton we were aware that it was a sell out crowd, but only when the night started did we realise what a great crowd was waiting for us. Many thanks to those who had seen my touring one man shows at Harbour Arts Centre and brought along friends. I forgive you for going out for a pee in the middle of my set. Hope you found the bike you wanted (If you didn't see the set this means nothing to you.) Also a big thank you to those that came along to the gig at The Palace Theatre in Kilmarnock the night before.

It's not all glamour

After the Good Girls being bad gig a day at the computer emailing and trying to get additional dates organised for the tour of my Edinburgh Fringe show About Robert the Bruce. I got good reviews for the show - see

Nevertheless it's still the less sexy part of comedy phoning and emailing to organised the tour. On the plus side you don't have to leave the house.

The many faces of a comedian

Being a stand up comedian involves many different roles. This is a night where where I was booked to host a night called Good Girls Being Bad in aid of breast cancer research. Yes it is a naked man in the background behind me. There were many of these 'Butlers in the Buff', men for auction and much more in an night with more oestrogen than a midwife in a chicken coop. Given that there were no whales for auction I was probably the safest of the few men in the room. Who knows what the next job will bring. You can hire me on www.brucefummey.co.uk.

Early days at The Stand

Like most new stand up comedians Bruce started
with open mic nights. Here is a grainy picture taken at The Stand comedy club Glasgow in those early days. He's even fatter now!
